Awards spotlight – The UK Business & Innovation Awards
Awards International – the company behind some of the bestknown programmes in the awards calendar – has launched a brand new award for 2022: The UK Business & Innovation Awards.
The last two years have proven to be particularly challenging to many businesses up and down the country – but if your team, organisation, product or even specific individuals have thrived, why not seize on the chance to be the first ever winners of these inaugural awards?
With the overall theme celebrating different aspects of excellence in business and innovation, there are 19 categories on offer. Take your pick from Best New Business, celebrating those brave enough to launch a new business in a global pandemic, to Best Green Business, for those who are working hard to stay environmentally friendly.
Have you revamped your health and wellbeing strategy in the face of unprecedented working-from-home conditions? Perhaps you have completely overhauled your entire business to find new opportunities for profit in the new post-Brexit, post-pandemic era? Does your team deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication? Or has pressure on your customer service channels led to the delivery of a brand new app or website? Maybe technology is driving positive change, for customers or employees? Do you have a team or leader who has consistently delivered, driving innovation and sustainability across your business?
With categories for customer experience, technology and product development, there really is something for every UK-based company, large or small. Why not take a look through all the categories on offer, and see what catches your eye?
Awards International, with 12 other industry awards on its roster, is there to help with entries every step of the way. Dedicated awards consultants, free case studies, top tips articles and webinars are all available to help you decide how to make your company shine. Perhaps most useful of all is that every finalist at the UK Business and Innovation Awards will receive a benchmarked feedback report; so, if you aren’t successful, you can use the exercise to see how you can drive continuous improvement by looking at the overall scores and judges’ comments.
The robust and transparent judging process is split into two parts: a written entry and a live-judging event, each making up 50% of your overall score.
How to enter
The final deadline for entry is 3rd December 2021, but if you can get your entry completed before 5th November you’ll qualify for the ‘early bird entry’ and save money on your entry fees. Additionally, in recognition of the critical role that micro-businesses and start-ups have played in our economic success, Awards International has offered a reduced entry price for smaller-sized organisations. Entry fees are dependent on the size of your organisation, but a standard entry for a larger company is £399 for a single entry, plus £199 for any subsequent nominations. You can check out the costs on their Enter Now page.
Once you’ve registered and paid, you’ll be given access to an online entry portal where you’ll find an entry template that can be used for every category.
The categories
As I mentioned, there are 19 different categories to choose from, and no limit to the number of entries you’d like to put forward. The categories are split into ‘business’ and ‘innovation’ themes, so have a look and decide which one suits your organisation best:

Top tips
The best piece of advice I can give is to make your entry stand out. Judges will have several entries to read, so making the ‘so what?’ factor clear will help them understand why your initiative has been so vital to your individual business. Grab the judge’s attention – and then keep it through information, facts and evidence that substantiate your claims. Judges don’t just want to know about what you did, they want to hear about the impact, too. With that in mind, it’s important to find a blend of what you achieved, as well as what you did.

The awards will be held live online on 3rd & 9th February, and will celebrate the heroic business professionals of the Covid era – those who’ve pivoted, pioneered and persevered in an unpredictable age.
